Sam brings his knowledge of scheduling, project management, plus an unbridled enthusiasm for construction as he returns home, heading the Milroy team in an executive management role.

Born in Iowa, Sam moved to California with his family when he was 5 years old. When he was in high school, Sam went to work as an apprentice with Milroy Construction’s journeymen. Later, Sam moved into project management on small jobs, meeting with facilities directors at different companies such as Quantum Dot, the IBM think tank in San Jose, Hewlett Package in Palo Alto and Protein Design Labs in Fremont.

Sam began his college career at Cal-Poly, later transferring to Long Beach State University where he received his bachelor's of science degree in Construction Engineering Management.

While in school Sam worked for KB Home in the North Los Angeles division. Starting out as an assistant superintendent Sam proved himself as an outstanding member of an award winning team. The first community that Sam worked on was the Windsor at Creekside community in Valencia. Sam and two other superintendents built over 160 homes in less than 18 months. After completing the Creekside community, Sam worked on the Tesoro Canterbury community. This is where Sam began to shine and stand out. Sam ran such a successful schedule that his team at Canterbury won the divisions President’s Circle Award. This award recognizes a construction team’s ability to keep owners satisfaction high while simultaneously completing projects on time. Because of his achievements, KB Home promoted Sam to the position of Centralized Scheduler of the entire division at the age of 26. Over the course of two years, Sam won over eight inter-department awards and won employee of the month for November in 2005. While working as the Centralized Scheduler for KB Home, Sam built a schedule that was used and applied to over 1,200 homes throughout the division. The North Los Angeles division was ranked the third most profitable division of the 31 division within the corporation. The forms and procedures Sam developed and set in place had a major impact in how a 10 billion dollar a year construction company does business today. Sam’s vision, leadership and advanced computer skills are leading Milroy Construction into the future.
